Check your MPEP! October 21, 2008

I just received the most recent edition of the MPEP from Patent Publishing LLC.  I like their 2-volume bound edition, and I’ve purchased the last few sets from those folks.  In the course of responding to an Office Action, I turned to section 2100 of my shiny new Volume 2 to see if there were any changes to MPEP 2143.  There were significant changes – back to the way that section used to be!  The reason?  Section 2100 was misprinted; the bottom of the pages in section 2100 referred all the way back to a 2006 revision.  Calls to Patent Publishing LLC about this problem have gone unanswered, so I don’t know if this problem is limited to my set or if it’s a problem with the entire print run.

If you have purchased the most recent MPEP, check section 2100 immediately, and don’t use it if it’s the 2006 language!
